Vintage Old Taylor Bourbon Whiskey decanter, 4/5 quart. circa 1950's. The number 53 is Molded on bottom, potentially indicating the exact year.
The decanter is made of pressed, molded glass and features the "OLD TAYLOR" text and a facsimile signature on the front. It has a distinctive flat, vasiform shape with vertical fluting around the base.
The original stopper is also glass with a molded, decorative design and a cork base.
This bottle was part of the E.H. Taylor Jr. Sons. The Molded lettering on bottom "Federal law forbids sale or reuse of this bottle" was required on all liquor bottles sold in the United States between 1935 and 1964.
It does show signs of normal wear on the gold lettering. The bottle and original
stopper are in very good vintage condition.
